Over several cups of brew Meagan Connolly and Cink DeVeas conjured up Alchemi Design & Publications. After agreeing to take several months to strategize their own company identity, the phone rang with a client needing logos for a series of hotels in the U.S. and Alchemi was off and running. Since then their combined talents and experience have resulted in a steadily growing graphic design, advertising and marketing firm.
Meagan Connolly began oil painting in high school and continued her Arts Curriculum at University of Georgia, where she graduated in Advertising and won the Student Peabody Award for best Advertising Campaign for Hardees Food. She began her work for the Atlanta Market Center, and later moved back to the DC area where she became a Graphic Designer for the Smithsonian Institution. Continuing her oil painting she studied under Trinka Simon at the National Gallery of Art. She then moved from nonprofit to corporate sector and ran the Maryland design office of Chesapeake Wallcoverings. Meagan now balances a full workload with Alchemi while running after two energetic boys. Meagan still oil paints and enjoys dabbling in watercolors as well.
Cink Deveas began drawing at an early age and with encouragement from her industrial artist Uncle, kept at it with training through high school and college. After graduating from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education and a minor in Art, she worked in the field of Emergency Medicine at Baltimore's Shock Trauma Center and New York City's Emergency Medical Services and continued to take courses in fine art and graphic design. Cink went on to graduate from the University of Baltimore with a Master's degree in Publication Design. While raising her family, she started her own free-lance company Cink Art, LLC and worked for several different local publications as a graphic designer and ad manager. She worked as the Director of Advertising for the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club for several years before co-founding Alchemi Design & Publications, LLP with Meagan. When not working on the business of Alchemi and Cink Art, Cink enjoys her family, pen and ink drawing and dreams of someday becoming an eccentric old lady oil painter somewhere on the water in a warmer climate.
